Final Cover Design for "LOUIE, The Lonely Lighthouse"

Cover Art (C) by Roxanne Bowman; Cover Design by Greg Zschomler.
Today is the one month away mark for the debut of my newest book Louie, the Lonely Lighthouse! I thought it was time that you saw the final cover design (since Friday "everyone else in the world" will see it on the Press Releases).

Louie—forgotten and at risk of becoming a relic— despairs until, one dark and stormy night, his mighty light saves the day.

The story tells the tale of Louie’s passage from hopelessness to hero. It also teaches the intrinsic value of every individual and encourages people young and old to keep believing in themselves.

The picture book is suitable for children, but enjoyable for adults alike and is charmingly illustrated by Florence, Oregon artist, Roxanne Bowman.

Each keepsake paperback sold in a lighthouse gift shop or museum will create revenue for lighthouse preservation and upkeep.

The painting for the cover (and the inner illustrations) were created by Roxanne Bowman who is a digital artist, painter and graphic designer living at the center of the Oregon coast. She holds an art degree from Stevens-Henager College. She has three daughters, a husband of 33+ years, and three grandchildren. As a child she was told that she would amount to nothing. To that she replies, “Watch me suckers!” She says that MS took away some of the things she loves, but that God has given back more than she would have ever thought.

PLAYHOUSE PHANTOM Revisions and Reformatting

After a day of errands and then hours at the Clark County Fair I managed to reformat the interior of PLAYHOUSE PHANTOM. I'd been using the wrong template (book size). I will tackle the cover once again beginning Monday.

When all that's done and uploaded, I'll move on to more revision, writing and editing on LIGHTS, CAMERA,WORSHIP while I await the online proof of PP. When I get that there'll be another round of edits before ordered the hard copy proof for yet another round of editing.

Meanwhile, remember the Sunday Streets Alive event one week from tomorrow. (We're at location 1 on the link's map.) We'd love to see you!

Getting the Art Just Right for PLAYHOUSE PHANTOM

Struggling with the printer to get the PLAYHOUSE PHANTOM cover file just right. The math is most difficult--especially for the spine.

Hopefully this fourth file will be the one.

Also have been working on the editor's edits and required revisions for LIGHTS, CAMERA, WORSHIP!

That will take well into next week due to a busy weekend.

Proposed Cover Art for Book 3, "Antebellum Apparition"

Didja see that photograph I took of the Davis Mansion and posted on this blog two posts ago? [Scroll down, you'll see it.]

Well, I couldn't help but monkey with it. I was inspired, okay? (Then again maybe I was procrastinating on the writing.)

I know, I know. Yes, ANTEBELLUM APPARITION is two books away* and I don't even have the current one (MARSH MONSTER) written.

Anyway this art still needs some clean-up and detailing work (and text, etc.), but this mock up shows you where I'm going with it. [Remember, the front is on the right, the back is on the left.]

*The truth is I have that story milling around in my noggin, too. I begin writing it this summer.

MARSH MONSTER Manuscript Passes the 10,000 Word Mark; Plus Sneak Peak at the Cover Art

Back of the cover to the left, front on the right.
I did over 4,000 words today and passed the 10,000 word mark! That means I am now one-third done with the first draft of the manuscript for MARSH MONSTER.

I thought it might be fun to give you a first glimpse of the books cover. No, not the whole cover; this is only the beginnings. It is very basic.

I write again tomorrow, but will take Friday and Saturday off for the wife's birthday and to attend a writing conference. I pitch to an agent at the conference so your prayers are appreciated.
