MARCH MADNESS BOOK SALE: Low, Low Prices

That's right! I have some VERY Special Specials on select books beginning Monday, March 2 and running through Sunday, March 15, 2015 (limited to stock on hand). Now is the time to buy! Just look at these deep discounts:

Buy ALL three Bayou Boys Adventure books (for middle-readers) at the ridiculous price of $20 post-paid. That's right, twenty dollars even for Voodoo Virus, Marsh Monster and Playhouse Phantom, signed, sealed and delivered wherever you please (in the USA). I have never before offered this set at this low, low price. While on-hand supplies last; I only have seven full sets on hand. When they're gone that's it for this deal! (AND you'll be the first in line to purchase the forth and final book in the series, Alien Ambush, when it comes out near the end of the year.)

I have four additional copies of  Voodoo Virus (originally $6.99) on hand and these are now just $5 each (and ship for $2 more). I also have four additional copies of Marsh Monster (originally $8.99) for just $7 each (and ship for $3 more). The price on this one has never been so low.

Again limited to supplies on hand. Sorry, no additional copies of Playhouse Phantom are available (but you can buy it for full price online or through your favorite bookstore).

BONUS: If you order any of the above books or sets now I'll also throw in a slightly blemished* copy of The Amish vs. the Zombies for the cost of shipping ($2). Limited to seven on hand. *There's an almost unnoticeable printing error on the front cover. Due to some graphic  content (violence) the book is recommended for readers 16 and up.

I also have ten unblemished copies of The Amish vs. the Zombies available. They usually sell for $9.99 plus shipping, but you can have one signed, sealed and delivered for just $10 even. That's virtually FREE postage!

Plus, I have just two copies of Big Papa Zee's Cajun and Caribbean Cookbook on hand. And I'm letting them go for dirt cheap. This were printed prior to the inclusion of my recipes for my Ragin' Cajun and Caribbean Jerk seasonings. They sold for $5.99 online and I have never offered them for less than $5, but you can have one for just $3 post-paid. And I'll even throw in the seasoning recipes (printing on an insert). Wow!

The New Books, Too!

I now have eighteen more copies of my newest book Rocketman: From the Trailer Park to Insomnia and Beyond on hand. The book of humorous tales, poems and other writings (along with a mess of photos) "from my sleepless life and addled imagination" sells for $9.99, but you can have one of these (again signed, sealed and delivered) for $10 even. Again virtually FREE postage! This offer is limited to the supplies on hand.

I also have nine copies of my children's picture book "I'm Samson," said Sydney (illustrated by April Bullard) on hand. They usually sell for $14.99, but you can buy one now (signed, sealed, delivered) for just $12. That's right, the price includes shipping. This delightful book of lovely illustrations and playful verse will be loved by any child under six. Limited to the supply on hand.

Finally, I have an overstock (50 copies) of Lights, Camera, Worship! (my text for pastors and church techs) on hand. They normally sell for $14.99, but I'm letting them go for $10 plus $2 postage. I also have nine more copies of this title which have a misprinted spine (nothing was printed on it) that I will let go for $5 post-paid. That's the best deal I've got! This makes a great gift for your church.

Remember: ALL these super deals are limited to ONLY the stock I have on hand right now. Fiirst come, first served, and when they're gone they're gone.

On the Road in CA with "Lights, Camera, Worship"

At Celebration Church in Fresno, California.

Celebration Church, Clovis Campus, Fresno area, California.

Always good to see what churches across the nation are doing.

This is my second time at Celebration Church. They do a LOT of things well and are generally very progressive.

However...

Since I last visited, almost a year ago, nothing has changed. The set and lighting are virtually identical. (And there was still no open WiFi.)

What DID change--and this is the first time I've seen this--is a mid-worship costume change for the worship leader. W-what? Why?

Just HAD to Share This Review with You

“Lights, Camera, Worship”: A review

I’m so happy to be able to give a brief review of a book that a good friend recently sent me. Gregory E. Zschomler has recently gone to publishing of the Second Edition of “Lights, Camera, Worship”, and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it to read.

I met Greg at a time in the late 90′s when worship music as we know it was going through a crossover from singing songs about God, to singing songs TO God. This era was welcomed with artists such as SonicFlood, Vineyard Worship was cutting edge, Hillsong’s “Shout to the Lord” became a staple and CCM artists began to release worship songs in droves. Church Production was another staple that became more and more popular, having been a part of a church where the overhead projector or slide projector were the latest technology. This is when I had the opportunity to meet Greg, and eventually be on staff alongside him. He brought an awakening of what the church could be through Media, and a fresh voice to the status quo. This book encapsulates, for me, the evolution of what was, what is, and what will become of church production and media ministries.

This book isn’t merely about Church Software Wars of who uses which program, or which set of Smart Lights to buy, but rather a collective look of how to get started and what to do next. It’s easy for me to sit back, as a consultant and tell a church that I’m working with to buy this Software for $14k, or this set of projectors for $8k. But Greg has gone through the legwork of sharing how he’s done things on a budget, and how to get the most bang for your money. God has entrusted us with the finances of the local church. It’s our job to be a great steward of it. Now, at first, your church may not share the same values as you, and that is ok. There is always a “baby step” to get you where you want to be. The early church used beautiful stained glass that told stories through Art and Color. We, as Media Directors, and Church Techies are no different. We tell our stories in creative ways and in beautiful ways. Who should check this book out?

1) The Church planter: Money is always a factor in getting started, and Greg gives great advice on what to invest in first, and how to make the biggest splash on a budget

2) The Tech Guru: You will find a well-rounded primer on lights, cameras, software, hardware, etc, and how to expand your tech ministry

3) The Artist: This book will reinforce what you already know, and that the Church and Art share a kindred spirit of beauty that God wants us to use to be a part of the Biblical narrative

4) The Lone Wolf in Ministry: Let’s face it, you didn’t go to seminary to study this stuff. And this book will give you College Level reading to get your Audio/Visual ministry off to a great start.

Greg is a treasure to the Church, and has been an inspiration to me, and my ministry even today. Take a look at this, and other books of his. It will expand your horizons. Buy this book HERE!

LCW Gets It's First Review on Amazon (and it's good)

"Lights, Camera, Worship!" does a great job giving an overview of technical arts in a ministry setting. Whether you're in a small church or swimming in the sea of mega-churchdom, the information given will help you more easily navigate through each aspect of your services and enhance the impact you're having on churchgoers. No book like this can include every piece of information necessary to succeed, but Greg does a great job of laying out all of the basics and gives you all the information you'll need to build a solid foundation and move forward. I highly recommend it." ~from a reader review on Amazon (four stars)

New Endorsement for LIGHTS, CAMERA, WORSHIP!

"It is without question that today's growing church is invariably using as much technology as they can manage (or afford), and rightly so. While the timeless message of hope we present always remains the same, our methods can and should change in order to reach this generation, and speak the language of the culture we find ourselves serving. Living Hope Church would not be where it is today without the use of Media Arts and 'techie's' like Greg, who along the way knew how to make the caffeine-overloaded creative team's vision a reality.

"In Lights, Camera, Worship!, Greg offers immense expertise and information in all areas of worship technology, packaged in an easy-to-understand format that all can benefit from. I highly recommend this resource to any team wishing to take the risk to become a Dangerous Church."

Advance Praise for the Second Edition of LIGHTS, CAMERA, WORSHIP!

Mock-up of potential cover art. Sample only; subject to change.
"Greg's book, "Lights Camera Worship" has been a valuable resource for the classes I have taught. We have used this book for Worship Technology, as well as a course entitled "Praise Band". The book gives specific instructions on worship technology while staying broad enough on these subjects to leave room the flexibilities that are unique to each situation. My students have often commented on how much they liked this text.

"In working with Greg on staff, I found him to be practical, realistic and reliable. His ability to make amazing things happen on a limited budget never ceased to amaze me. I believe you will find this book very useful to your ministry. Greg brings a background of hands-on experience in this field. In addition, he is one of the most creative people I know. Greg has lectured in classes and as a seminar leader he is well-prepared and engaging. He strives to stay abreast of the current trends and technologies. That is why he has created this new version of a great resource.

"This book should be a valuable source of help in a field that is constantly changing. I would highly recommend this book as a resource for those who work with technology at churches as well as worship leaders, pastors and board members."

~Lynn Higgins is currently a Worship Pastor and the former chair of the music department at Mid-America Christian University.

Which Photograph Would Be Most Compelling?

Which of these photographs might be the most compelling for the cover of the Second Edition of my upcoming book LIGHTS, CAMERA, WORSHIP

Keep in mind that the thinnest of the three (left) would be the front cover alone and that the wider one (below) would spread to the back cover.

Designs are mock-ups only and text may differ. Cover ideas are subject to change.

TO HEAVEN, HELL AND BACK Begins

With one book proposal (THE AMISH VS. THE ZOMBIES) still out to two publishers for consideration, a manuscript (LIGHTS, CAMERA, WORSHIP) being considered by another, having just finished two works (LCW and PLAYHOUSE PHANTOM), one close to publication (PP), having finished the libretto for a rock opera (THIS CHILD) and at a loss for what else to do (lol), I am proceeding to write (early) on TO HEAVEN, HELL AND BACK.

I have previously begun the work and had plans to continue it in November, but being ahead of the game and nothing else to tackle (although we'll be working on getting THIS CHILD into production beginning next week), I am taking it on early. I've just begun chapter three.

Here is a sample from the opening chapter:

It has long been speculated that parallel worlds (or universes) exist side by side—or, rather, together in the same space, one, perhaps, within another within another. Although imagined, never in the wildest dreams of scientists, has anyone ever thought it actually possible to travel inter-dimensionally. And no one—no one—ever believes me when I tell them that I have, in fact, achieved that very feat.

Mind you, I am not a scientist. My Higher Ed studies are in philosophy and theology; disciplines that do not ask dimensional questions. Though they tend to deal with the abstract and the unknown, they only ask metaphysical questions and those often do not seem to have a practical—down to earth--application. I, however, beg to differ. I believe that nothing could be further from the truth...

PLAYHOUSE PHANTOM Revisions and Reformatting

After a day of errands and then hours at the Clark County Fair I managed to reformat the interior of PLAYHOUSE PHANTOM. I'd been using the wrong template (book size). I will tackle the cover once again beginning Monday.

When all that's done and uploaded, I'll move on to more revision, writing and editing on LIGHTS, CAMERA,WORSHIP while I await the online proof of PP. When I get that there'll be another round of edits before ordered the hard copy proof for yet another round of editing.

Meanwhile, remember the Sunday Streets Alive event one week from tomorrow. (We're at location 1 on the link's map.) We'd love to see you!

Getting the Art Just Right for PLAYHOUSE PHANTOM

Struggling with the printer to get the PLAYHOUSE PHANTOM cover file just right. The math is most difficult--especially for the spine.

Hopefully this fourth file will be the one.

Also have been working on the editor's edits and required revisions for LIGHTS, CAMERA, WORSHIP!

That will take well into next week due to a busy weekend.

Catching Up With What I'm Up To

After a couple of redrafts and proofs PLAYHOUSE PHANTOM is now in the hands of my able-bodied editor. After she goes through it I will do one more revision and then proceed to formatting. After that I'll work on the cover art. It should be ready for the printer well in advance of the deadline to make the October release date.

I have also begun writing ALIEN AMBUSH and begun to formulate the story, but probably won't actively write more until next year. In the meantime I have begun another novel--a sci-fi, adult novel (not a Bayou Boys Adventure) called TO HELL, HEAVEN AND BACK AGAIN--which I plan to fully tackle for NaNoWriMo (in November) though I am writing on it somewhat now.

I am also revising and updating my 2005 text LIGHTS, CAMERA, WORSHIP! for re-release later this year. The book continues to be used as a college text at Mid-America Christian University and I'd like to see it used more widely--in schools and churches. But it needed an overhaul.

I'm also doing some slight revisions to MARSH MONSTER for its next printing. And, finally, I am waiting to hear back from three publishers about my novel THE AMISH vs. THE ZOMBIES (so far, out of five submissions, I have two rejections).

Meanwhile, I have an author appearance at the Battle Ground Library tomorrow, another on the 4th of August and another on August 18th.
